Bill Gates is one of the most famous entrepreneurs the world has ever had. He founded Microsoft with the help of Paul Allen, which is currently the number one software company in the world. Gates is the second wealthiest man with a net worth of around $113 billion and now the technology advisor of Satya Nadella.

Early Life

Bill Gates was born on 28th October 1955 in Seattle, Washington. At 13, his parents admitted him to Lakeside preparatory school. Bill started showing interest in Programming while still schooling. 

Bill built his first computer program on the General Electric Machine and was exempted from class to allow him to do what his heart desired. 

At school, Bill met Paul Allen, and together with two other students, they worked tirelessly to find bugs in the PDP-10 system that belonged to the computer center corporation. 

The four wrote an information sciences payroll program in exchange for computer time. They also created a program to schedule students for classes.

Microsoft Story

In 1975, Bill Gates told MITS, creators of the new Microcomputer, that he worked on the BASIC interpreter. Together with Allen, they were summoned by the MITS president to display their work, which became a success. They then came into an agreement with MITS to distribute the interpreter as Altair BASIC and named the collaboration “micro-soft.” 

20th November 1985, Microsoft launched its retail version of windows and agreed with IBM to develop an operating system known as OS/2. Microsoft is still growing, and they are consistently developing new products, such as Windows OS, Microsoft Office suites, office 365, Xbox, Bing, Hotmail Etc. Today Bill Gates has an estimated net worth of $113 billion with his windows software being used in companies worldwide.

Philanthropy

To start the William H. Gates Foundation, Bill had to sell some of his shares at Microsoft in 1994. His idea to create a foundation was inspired by Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller, who lived to help the less fortunate. Bill Gates joined hands with Melinda Gates, his wife, to form Bill and Melinda Foundation, which is now worth $34 billion.
