Forbes compiled the list of the dead top-earning artists for the year 2020. Here is a list of the top 13. 

1. Michael Jackson

The legendary musician died at 50 on June 25, 2009. His cause of death is linked to homicide and overdose. Jackson made a whopping $48 million in 2020 from his music.

2. Dr. Suess

Dr. Suess died of cancer on September 24, 1991, at 87 years. He made $33 million this year from the sale of his books, some of which were made into animation series. 

3. Charles Schulz 

Charles Schulz succumbed to cancer on February 12, 2000. The American cartoonist died at 70 years old. He earned $32.5 million. His earnings came from the Schulz estate and classic TV series featuring his works.

4. Arnold Palmer 

Arnold Palmer died of heart disease on September 25, 2016, at 87 years. The professional golfer made $25million this year. Part of his earnings is tied to Arnold Palmer’s branded merchandise that is widely sold in Asia.

5. Elvis Presley

Elvis Persely was an American actor, singer, and musician. He died at 42 from a heart attack on August 16, 1977. The entertainer’s empire earned him $23 million in 2020. 

6. Kobe Bryant 

The legendary Lakers player died at 41 in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020. The American basketball player made $20million.

7. Juice WRLD

Juice WRLD was an American rapper who died last year, December 8, 2019. The talented musician died at 21 because of an overdose. His music made $15 million this year.

8. Bob Marley

Robert Nesta Marley, famously known as Bob Marley, died from Cancer on May 11, 1981. He was 36 years old. The legendary reggae artist made $14 million this year. Bob Marley’s earning is majorly from his music, which saw a huge streaming this year. 

9. John Lennon

John Lennon was murdered 40 years ago on December 8, 1980. His music still lives on and has earned him $13 million. 

10. Prince

Prince died on April 21, 2016, from an overdose. The musician was 57 years old. Four years after his death, his music is still trending, and this year he earned $10 million. 

11. Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury was a British singer who died at 45 years old because of AIDS-related complications. In the 2020 financial year, Freddie’s music made $9million.

12. George Harrison

The English musician succumbed to cancer at 58 years on November 29, 2001. He earned $8.5 million. 

13. Marilyn Monroe 

Marilyn Monroe was an icon, a celebrated filmmaker who died because of an overdose. Marlyn died at 36 years on August 4, 1962. This year she earned $8million. Her earnings come from the many brands that use her name and image.
